Once again optimism outweighed the messed up and ill guided CME Cattle Futures that continue to raise havoc with the cattle markets. The Futures have become totally useless and are in no way tied to the cattle numbers or market. Everyone knows there are way less cattle than ever before and that numbers will continue to decline.
I just landed in Fort Worth for the 2nd day of the United States Cattlemens Association meetings. Looking forward to seeing what is being discussed about possible solutions to this topsy-turvy cattle futures. The LRPs may be extremely beneficial to producers but how the insurance companies are covering their risk through the CME are causing what is supposed to protect us, to be what breaks us.
Hopefully there will be a productive discussion about the beef checkoff and its lack of performance and effectiveness as well. Interestingly enough USCA was denied its request for checkoff funding to do research and promotion of the Carnivore diet. There’s a podcast out there on Joe Rogan with Dr Sean Baker as he talks about the Carnivore diet and how NCBA wouldn’t give him the time of day. The bottom line is the checkoff funds are not only ineffective and unproductive they are straight up being used to finance the NCBA as they diligently work to lobby against ANY and ALL policies, laws, and regulations that force the almighty packers to share in their profits with you and I the cattle producers. Can you believe NCBA would allow The Packing Industry to be a part of their association while they invest millions if not billions in fake beef? Can you believe we have stupid laws governing the Beef Checkoff that makes it “illegal” to say anything negative about this lab grown junk? What a joke.
Bred Cow Sale this coming Wednesday December 6th at 6 pm. Come join us. There will be approximately 500 bred cows of all ages. It’s going to be interesting to see what the industry thinks they are worth.
Next Feeder Sale DECEMBER 15th. We already have several nice strings of quality calves lined up. Hope to see you at a sale soon!
